2026 Goals: Define Your Goals

When defining your goals we need to have already done the work in defining our beliefs and our purpose, or our Why. Our beliefs underpin all that we do. They are the foundation of the decisions we make and the actions we take or don’t take. Without clear beliefs we can make missteps all over the place.

Our purpose is the reason we do everything that we do. It is the overall goal, the thing to set our compass by and should be our direction of travel through life. Along with our beliefs our purpose helps us to make decisions. It is the thing we hold our decisions up against as we ask ourselves if what we are doing is good or not.

Our goals as smaller targets that we know will move us closer to our purpose. They should be short term, medium term and long term. Short term are daily and weekly goals. Medium term are quarterly or six monthly goals. Long term are goals that are yearly and beyond.

It is useful to think of the short term goals as serving the medium and long term goals. With our beliefs, purpose and goals in place we can have a successful and meaningful life.
